A new novel food regulation (EU) 2015/2283 will be applied from January 1st, 2018. The authorisation procedure will be centralized (EFSA and Commission) and a possibility for five years’ data protection is included the new regulation. Traditional foods from third countries will have a new route to the EU market based on the safe history of use. Medfiles Food and Nutrition Team has a strong experience on the novel food area and is happy to assist with authorisation of new foods and ingredients. Please contact mari.lyyra@medfiles.eu.
